Serê Kaniyê IDPs Committee meets Hasakah governor, presidential delegation to discuss return mechanism

As part of ongoing efforts to facilitate the return of displaced residents to their places of origin, Hasakah Governor Eng. Nour Eddin Ahmed held a meeting with the presidential delegation tasked with implementing the January 29th Agreement and the Serê Kaniyê Displaced Persons Committee. The meeting was also attended by Brig. Mahmoud Khalil; Deputy Director of the Internal Security Forces in Hasakah, to discuss the measures and procedures required to create suitable conditions for the return of displaced residents to their homes.

The participants discussed the arrangements needed to ensure the safe and dignified return of residents, and reviewed the efforts undertaken in this regard. They noted that mine clearance and the removal of war remnants began on Thursday as a first step toward reopening the roads leading to the city and its surrounding villages.

Presidential envoy Mostafa Abdi said that the return of displaced residents to Serê Kaniyê would begin once demining operations are completed.

For its part, the Serê Kaniyê Displaced Persons Committee said it had submitted a list of displaced residents to the presidential delegation, including comprehensive statistics and data on their current situation.

The committee added that the relevant authorities had held meetings with settlers currently living in Serê Kaniyê in preparation for their departure from the city and return to their original places of residence. It noted that their return to their home cities, including Hasakah, faces no obstacles.

The committee also called on the presidential delegation to take urgent measures to halt violations against residents' property and put an end to the looting and theft of household belongings.
