The town of Jdeidet Artouz in the Damascus countryside witnessed security tensions on Thursday evening following an attack on the home of a family originally from Deir ez-Zor province. The incident later escalated into a fight in the area involving indiscriminate gunfire, sticks, axes and bladed weapons.

Internal Security Forces intervened and deployed across several neighborhoods of the town, imposing a curfew until dawn and urging residents to remain indoors for their safety. There were no reports of deaths or injuries.

Tensions resurfaced in the area on Friday evening over the incident, with cars vandalized and public and private property damaged, fueling fear among residents.

Tribal elders called for calm and restraint, stressing the need to prevent further escalation. They said the relevant authorities would follow up on the incident and hold those responsible for vandalism and escalation accountable.
