Security measures in NE Syria enhanced coinciding with New Year celebrations

The Interior Authority and the Internal Security Forces in the North and East Syria Region, through an official circular, extended their congratulations to all citizens on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year, and announced a set of security measures to be implemented to ensure public safety and maintain security stability.

Today, the Interior Authority of the North and East Syria Region and the General Command of the Internal Security Forces issued Circular No. /8/, outlining a number of security measures to be enforced to ensure the safety of citizens and the stability of the security situation during the Christmas and New Year period. The circular stated:

“We extend our warmest congratulations to all citizens of our people on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year, and we wish that these holidays pass in a calm and secure atmosphere. Accordingly, and in the interest of protecting citizens and ensuring the stability of the security situation during this occasion, all concerned are requested to adhere to the following security measures that have been adopted to guarantee public safety:

1. The entry of trucks and tanker vehicles (medium and large) into cities and towns is prohibited from 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 30/12/2025, until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, 2/1/2026.

2. The movement of motorcycles of all types, including military ones, is prohibited from 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 24/12/2025, until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, 2/1/2026.

3. Regarding border crossings, civilian movement will remain as usual; however, all commercial vehicles and heavy machinery will be suspended from 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 30/12/2025, until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, 2/1/2026. Humanitarian cases are exempt from this measure.

4. The transport of medical and relief supplies authorized by the relevant and competent authorities is permitted.

5. In accordance with the laws and regulations in force, the firing of live ammunition by civilians or military and security forces is strictly prohibited, under penalty of legal accountability.

6. Outside the provisions mentioned above, city administrations are instructed to coordinate with the Fuel Directorate and the Bakeries and Mills Directorate to allow the delivery of fuel and flour to bakeries and fuel stations.”
