KNK extends Christmas greetings

The Executive Council of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) issued a statement today congratulating Christians on the birth of Jesus Christ. The statement said:

“Christmas, marking the birth of Jesus Christ, is a sacred day and a major holiday in the Christian world. For this purpose, it is celebrated annually on December 25. Religious holidays hold great value in all faiths, as each religion celebrates these important days with enthusiasm, major festivities, and specific rituals observed in their places of worship.”

The statement continued: “Since the very beginning, Christianity spread across the geography of Kurdistan. Christmas has been celebrated in Kurdistan for nearly two thousand years and has become a fundamental holiday in our country.”

It added: “There is a large number of believers in Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible in Kurdistan. They are citizens who are respected and appreciated, and Christian citizens also have representation within the Kurdistan National Congress.”

On the occasion of this sacred day, the Kurdistan National Congress extended its Christmas greetings, with the highest expressions of respect and affection, first and foremost to the Christians of Kurdistan and to all Christians around the world.

The statement concluded by expressing hope that “this sacred day will be a cause for peace, reassurance, goodness, and prosperity throughout the world.”
