SDF's Abdi meets Interim Government Envoy over Jan 29 deal

A broad meeting was held today in Hasaka, bringing together Mazloum Abdi and Ziad Al-Ayesh, in the presence of Governor Engineer Nour Al-Din Ahmed, the Commander of Internal Security Forces Marwan Al-Ali and his deputy Mahmoud Khalil, as well as the Co-Chair of the Department of External Relations in the Autonomous Administration, Ilham Ahmed.

The participants discussed several key issues related to implementing the January 29 agreement, foremost among them the release of prisoners and detainees from both sides. They emphasized the importance of continuing this process to build mutual trust and support stability efforts in the region.

The meeting also addressed the return of displaced persons to their areas and ways to facilitate institutional integration. It was noted that the steps taken in this regard are progressing smoothly. In this context, a general amnesty decision issued today was announced as a direct outcome of the meeting, supporting de-escalation efforts and fostering a positive environment.

In parallel, attendees discussed the situation of displaced people from Serekaniye, with arrangements underway to ensure their return after the holiday in safe and organized conditions. Additionally, a group of displaced persons from Afrin is also scheduled to return after the holiday.
