Kobani condemns Afrin occupation on its 8th anniversary

Hundreds of residents of Kobani and displaced people from Afrin held a protest march on Wednesday, marking the eighth anniversary of the occupation of Afrin.

The march began at the Free Woman Square and proceeded to the Peace Square, with participants carrying olive branches, pictures of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and green, red, and yellow flags, chanting "Long live the resistance of Afrin."

Upon reaching the Peace Square, the march transformed into a rally. After holding a minute of silence, Arif Bali; the co-chair of the Kobani Environment Authority, delivered a speech recalling the events of the Afrin occupation, "Eight years ago, the Turkish state launched its air attack on our people in Afrin. However, our people waged a 58-day resistance against an army supported by NATO and warplanes. Today, they continue their resistance, demanding to return to their homes and lands."

He emphasized that "with the thought of leader Abdullah Ocalan regarding democratic integration, the hope of returning to Afrin soon remains."

The march concluded with the chant, "Long live the resistance of Afrin."
