SDF spokesman: Combing operation focused on vicinity of ISIS mercenaries' prison

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in cooperation with the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), launched a large-scale sweep operation on Saturday in the city of Hasaka in the JazerA Canton against sleeper and active ISIS mercenary cells. The operation aims to dismantle logistical support dens and thwart potential plots to target prisons and detention centers.

In this context, ANHA agency met with the official spokesman for the SDF, Abjar Daoud, who indicated that within the framework of their forces' work and their mission to combat terrorism and the cells that work with it, the SDF continues its mission to maintain security and stability and prevent chaos by pursuing ISIS mercenary cells and suspects who cooperate with them.

Daoud continued: "During the operation, several suspects have been arrested so far, and weapons and ammunition have been seized in their possession. These cells were using them to create chaos and terror against civilians in an attempt to reassert their control."

He pointed out that this operation comes within the framework of their forces' efforts to maintain security and stability in the city of Hasaka. He noted that the operation was preceded by surveillance and investigations into cells, followed by raids on their hideouts.

Abjar Daoud confirmed that the sweep operation focused primarily on the vicinity of the prison housing ISIS mercenaries (the al-Sina'a prison in the Ghuwayran neighborhood), noting that the mercenaries' presence around the prison is intended to "exfiltrate terrorists."

Daoud explained that ISIS mercenary cells regularly attempt to create chaos in the area by launching attacks. He added, "However, our forces always thwart these attacks, thereby preserving the security and stability of civilians."

Daoud called on the people of Hasaka to cooperate with their forces, while also calling on international powers to cooperate together to eliminate terrorism and maintain security and stability.

He explained that ISIS mercenaries had previously been eliminated geographically, but today the struggle continues to eliminate its cells and individuals and to end its ideology.

At the end of his remarks, the official spokesman for the Syrian Democratic Forces, Abjar Daoud, pledged to the people of NE Syria that he would maintain security and stability and guarantee them a free and dignified life.

So far, the sweep operation has resulted in the arrest of 39 ISIS mercenaries, in addition to the seizure of a quantity of weapons and ammunition, according to the Syrian Democratic Forces' media center.
