SDF arrests ISIS mercenaries in countryside of Raqqa

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces published a report on its website about the arrest of ISIS mercenaries and collaborators in the countryside of Raqqa Canton in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

According to the report, a security operation was carried out the day before yesterday, Wednesday, with the support of the International Coalition, targeting a number of ISIS mercenaries in the areas of Al-Hamrat and Al-Jadida in the Raqqa countryside.

The Media Center stated that the operation was the result of precise and well-planned intelligence work, following the collection of reliable information and evidence about the cell’s activities. The forces succeeded in arresting two mercenaries, the terrorists “Abdul Jabbar Al-Ubaid Al-Sawadi” and “Mahdi Shanan Al-Abdullah,” in addition to two other individuals, “Abdul Ilah Al-Sawadi” and “Mohammad Al-Abd Al-Ziyad,” who were cooperating with the cell and providing it with information about troop movements and military sites.

During initial investigations, the arrested mercenaries confessed to their affiliation with ISIS and their involvement in carrying out terrorist activities in the area through coordination and communication with other cells. They also admitted their involvement in targeting military points and attempting to carry out individual assassination operations.

The Syrian Democratic Forces emphasized that the security operation is of great importance, as it comes within the framework of their preemptive efforts to strike ISIS before it can carry out its criminal plans.

The operation contributed to thwarting terrorist attacks that were targeting the security of the region and the safety of civilians, and it dealt a direct blow to ISIS’s logistical and intelligence support networks by cutting its channels of communication and movement in the Raqqa countryside.
