SDF agreement with Damascus captures global media attention

Global newspapers today focused on the potential repercussions of the agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Damascus authority, noting that this step could reshape the political and military landscape of the country.

The Guardian published a report titled "The Syrian Government Reaches Agreement with Syrian Democratic Forces to Integrate the Northeastern Region," in which it detailed the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces to integrate the latter into the national army and achieve a comprehensive ceasefire.

The newspaper viewed the agreement as an important step toward stabilizing Syria and reunifying its territories after years of conflict and fragmentation.

Meanwhile, The Financial Times reported that the durability of the agreement reached between the Damascus authority and the Syrian Democratic Forces would reduce the risk of further violence and ease the long-standing point of tension between Turkey and the United States.

The newspaper also noted that the SDF agreement could help alleviate Western concerns about ISIS seeking to exploit the security vacuum to launch new attacks.

An American official told The National (UAE): "Of course, we have been pushing for this. This is big. This is great. Honestly, this is the best news to come out of Syria since December 8. Let’s see if they can really finalize the deal."
