Badran Çiya Kurd reveals broader details about agreement with Damascus

In a remarkable step on the road to a political solution in Syria, the advisor of the Democratic Autonomous Administration for the NE Syria, Badran Çiya Kurd, revealed on his page in virtual network sites, the most prominent files that were discussed during the meeting that brought them together, the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, and the head of the Damascus Authority, Ahmed Al-Shara, yesterday.

The text of his post reads:

"An important and historic meeting was held today in Damascus in the spirit of Syrian national responsibility, with the aim of finding solutions to the outstanding issues in Syria, which may pave the way for a breakthrough in many files.

In the meeting, we discussed developments in the Syrian coast and the need to stop the crimes committed there, in addition to ending all attacks and military operations inside Syrian territory. The Kurdish issue was also discussed as a Syrian national issue, where it was decided that a joint Kurdish delegation would hold a dialogue with the Syrian transitional leadership to discuss it in depth.

Discussions also covered key issues related to the AANES and its institutions, as well as military and security forces, and how to integrate them as part of Syrian national institutions. It was agreed to continue detailed negotiations through specialized committees, while discussing the mechanisms of work of sovereign institutions in coordination with Damascus, and ensuring the privacy of local institutions in a way that reflects the will of local communities to manage their affairs and represent their aspirations.

We also discussed the situation of Syrian refugees and displaced persons, with a focus on the return of the people of Afrin and Serekaniye. It was confirmed that the transitional administration in Damascus would take specific measures to ensure a safe return, with the results to be communicated to the concerned authorities later.

In light of the discussions, a national agreement was reached among the Syrians themselves, free from any external interference, to be an entry point for an inclusive dialogue and wider participation in the political process. They stressed the need to ensure the participation and representation of all components of NE Syria in this national process.
