SDC meets Syrian community in Sweden

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) held a meeting in Västerås, Sweden, with members of the Syrian community to discuss the latest developments in Syria and exchange views on the political process and the future of the national solution, according to the SDC's official website.

The meeting was chaired by Hassen Mohamed Ali, the co-chair of the SDC's Relations Office, who began by providing a comprehensive briefing on the situation in Syria and its North-East. He reviewed the ongoing negotiations between the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Interim Government, emphasizing the importance of holding the Kurdish Conference and the Conference of Components in Hasaka as a crucial step towards strengthening national understanding and establishing the principle of balanced partnership among all Syrian components.

During his remarks, Mohamed Ali addressed potential scenarios and the policies required to address them in order to achieve a balance in relations among the intervening powers, in addition to focusing on the success of the March 10th Agreement and the recent agreement concerning the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces, enshrining decentralization, maintaining the ceasefire, and implementing the necessary constitutional amendments.

He also stressed the importance of ensuring the safe return of displaced persons to Afrin with clear and binding guarantees, and the necessity of continuing political efforts to convey the conference's decisions and recommendations to Damascus and the regional and international communities through the unified Kurdish delegation.

The meeting witnessed extensive discussions and interventions from attendees regarding the map of balances in the region and its impact on Syria's future, in addition to the Afrin issue and the need to broaden the concept of decentralization beyond the administrative dimension to a comprehensive political formula that guarantees justice and equality for all Syrians.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Hassen Mohamed Ali answered the participants' questions, expressing his appreciation for the community members' engagement and their interest in following the national developments. Furthermore, he called on the attendees to continue such meetings to strengthen communication with the Syrian Democratic Council and keep them informed of the latest developments.
