SDC: Decentralization is path to national salvation, partnership for building new Syria

The Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council held its regular meeting, attended by the co-chairs Leyla Karaman and Mahmoud al-Muslet, to discuss the regional and international developments and their impact on the Syrian situation, as well as to assess the internal political scene and pathways to a national solution.

The attendees affirmed that decentralization represents a national salvation project that reflects the popular will and allows for the restructuring of the Syrian state on the foundations of equal citizenship, participation, and civil peace.

The co-chair Leyla Karaman stressed the necessity of strengthening national unity, consolidating partnerships among political forces, and involving Syrians in formulating national decisions in a democratic and transparent manner, noting that the previous centralization had hindered the political process and weakened state institutions.

She highlighted the importance of the March 10th Agreement as a comprehensive national document and the role of the Syrian Democratic Forces as a solid foundation for building a new national army that maintains balance and civil peace.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud al-Muslet emphasized that civil peace is a top priority, calling for strengthening democracy, protecting the social fabric, and restoring trust among the various Syrian communities.

The meeting concluded by emphasizing that building the future of Syria requires adopting decentralization as a constitutional formula to ensure the participation of all Syrians, in addition to organizing public dialogue seminars and opening channels of communication with various national forces to ensure that Syria belongs to all its people without exception.
