School year begins under Turkification banner in Girê Spî

the Turkish occupation state continues to impose its policies in Girê Spî city by introducing the Turkish language and culture into the educational curriculum, as part of a systematic Turkification policy targeting the identity of the younger generations.

Since the occupation of Girê Spî in October 2019, Ankara has focused particularly on the education sector, imposing the Turkish language on the curriculum and requiring teachers to attend Turkish language courses as a condition for employment.

The Turkish national anthem was also introduced into schools two years ago by decision of the so-called "local council" affiliated with the Turkish occupation, which required students to chant it daily.

The curricula printed in Turkey and supervised by special committees are not limited to language alone; however, they also include materials introducing the history of the Turkish Republic and its founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in an attempt to instill Turkish nationalist concepts in students' mentality...

In a related context, ANHA agency has previously reported that the local council in Girê Spî is encouraging the learning  of the Turkish language by offering gifts to children who have completed the language course. This is part of what residents describe as an organized "brainwashing" policy aimed at obliterating the population's national identity and culturally linking them to the Turkish state.
