Sara Organization for Combating Violence against Women continues its campaign entitled "Sexual Exploitation is a Crime... Don't Participate in Covering It Up" by holding a lecture at Alaya neighborhood commune in Qamişlo, Jazira canton.

The lecture, delivered by the organization's administrator, Roshin Sheikho, included a definition of sexual exploitation as a serious violation of human rights, explaining its various forms, such as child exploitation, sex trade, underage marriage, and exploitation in the workplace and online.

Roshin also addressed cyber blackmail and its types, whether sexual, financial, or targeting children on virtual social media, highlighting the similarities and differences between it and sexual exploitation, and the psychological and social consequences they entail, such as depression, anxiety, and family disintegration. She also pointed to the role of patriarchal culture in criminalizing the victim rather than holding the perpetrator accountable.

The organization's administrator presented relevant legal frameworks, such as the Cybercrime Law and the Family Law, offering practical recommendations to enhance prevention and confrontation at the individual, community, and international levels.

The lecture concluded with interventions from the attendees who emphasized the importance of raising community awareness and enhancing protection and support for women in the face of these violations.

Sara Organization for Combating Violence against Women launched a campaign titled "Sexual Exploitation is a Crime... Don't Participate in Covering It Up," which began in late July and will conclude in early October.
