Israeli newspaper reveals large-scale incursion into Syria

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported yesterday, Saturday, that the Israeli army carried out a large-scale military operation inside Syrian territory, lasting 14 hours and penetrating 38 kilometers deep since the fall of the former Syrian regime.

According to the newspaper, hundreds of reserve soldiers from the 210th Division participated in the operation, along with units from the 551st Brigade and the 299th Battalion. The operation targeted two abandoned military bases abandoned by the former regime following its fall on December 8, 2024. Large quantities of weapons were found, including shoulder-fired missiles, mortar shells, and rocket launchers, in addition to old Soviet tanks. Arms shipments bound for Hezbollah in southern Lebanon were also confiscated.

The newspaper explained that the Israeli army returned from the operation with 3.5 tons of explosives and weapons, drawing on information provided by some Druze villagers about the locations of the former regime's army.

It's worth noting that the Israeli army took control of the summit of Mount Hermon after the fall of the former regime, penetrating between 5 and 10 kilometers into the Golan Heights, and establishing eight military positions there.
