Russia and Ukraine announced the completion of their prisoner exchange with the return of 303 prisoners each, meaning the return of 1,000 prisoners to Ukraine and the same number to Russia.

Russia and Ukraine announced today, Sunday, the completion of their prisoner exchange with the return of 303 prisoners each, meaning the return of 1,000 prisoners to Ukraine and the same number to Russia.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the return of 303 Russian servicemen from territories controlled by Ukrainian forces, in exchange for the handover of 303 Ukrainian prisoners of war.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated: "On May 25 of this year, another 303 Russian servicemen returned from territories controlled by the Kyiv government."

The ministry indicated that "in return, 303 prisoners of war from Ukrainian forces were handed over."

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the Russian servicemen "are currently on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, where they are receiving the necessary psychological and medical assistance."

It explained that "all Russian military personnel and civilians will be transferred to Russia to receive treatment and rehabilitation in medical facilities affiliated with the Russian Defense Ministry."

The Russian Defense Ministry statement added: "In accordance with the Russian-Ukrainian agreements reached on May 16 in Istanbul, the Russian and Ukrainian sides carried out a prisoner exchange between them between May 23 and 25, based on the formula of 1,000 for 1,000."
