The Women's Protection Units (YPJ) Commander spoke to ANHA's agency on the occasion of International Women's Day, 8 March each year.

"We did not consider March 8 as Women's Day only."

Commander Rojda Felat indicated that they did not consider March 8 as a single women's day, and assessed the specificity of the day: "We act on the leader's assessment when he said 'All days are for women' and 8 March is a big meaning. Today is the day to embrace efforts. Think about women's presence and essence. On this day, hundreds of women were killed with the aim of eliminating them physically and intellectually and eradicating them once and for all. This is not just the incident, over history. there are thousands of educated women who have served society and become the basis, but little has been done to achieve the recognition and acceptance of women ".

"The struggle against the regime is not enough."

Rojda Felat commented on the proliferation of global women's organizations and their impact on society: "Every State or city advocates democracy, women's freedom and society, but this remains only formal. The struggle against the regime is not enough; in contrast, women are the hardest hit by the physical and private wars, and there are hundreds of women's organizations against this, but this remains weak in terms of a strong and unified action as an army there are women in the army, but they do normal work, and they continue to be weak in the overall adoption, organization and protection of the cause of women."

We in the Women's Protection Units preserve our history.

"The Women's Protection Units (YPJ) inherited their legacy from martyrs and regarded the leader's idea of the struggle of women as the basis." In these words, Rojda Felat highlighted the basis and importance of YPJ for women and society. "We in the Women's Protection Units preserve our history. Our history is full of sacrifices. There are hundreds of women who have carried out great operations for their freedom and people in general. Martyr Beritan, who threw herself from the top of the rocks refusing to surrender, and Martyr Zelan, who carried out an operation against injustice against women and conspiracies. We are building ourselves on this strong foundation. There is a response to attacks and injustice throughout Kurdistan, and this has recently been reflected in comrades Sarah and Rokin, who targeted the enemy entity, particularly against the AKP system, against women, and it is essential for us and the women of the world to strengthen the protection of these efforts. "

This year will be very successful for women.

Rojda Felat noted that in order to eliminate the dominant mindset, a global women's unit must be built that encompasses all areas, and said: "We have efforts to expand YPJ at the military, political and diplomatic levels for all women, We are working to introduce the world to more YPJ to set an example in the world, and this year, we have to have a stronger struggle against the dominant mindset than ever before, and this year will be very successful for women, and we need to feel the suffering of women in any country around the world, and struggle together and strengthen our organization, a women's unit must be built, thought must be united, Activism and struggle, women represent half of society, so if we cannot liberate half of society we will not be able to liberate society. "

"Rojava Women's Unit must spread around the world"

The leader of the Women's Protection Units, Rojda Felat, pointed out that a foundation had been laid for the Women's Unit in Rojava Kurdistan and concluded: "The women of all components of the region have united together, and this must reach the world. Accordingly, this year's 8 March events will be the strongest response to the dominant system, so 8 March must not be confined to celebrating only, and the same enthusiasm and action should be every day."
