Rising security chaos: series of killings, armed clashes in Transitional Government areas

The wave of security chaos continues in several regions under the authority of the Transitional Government. The provinces of Homs, Aleppo, and Damascus countryside have witnessed a series of killings and armed family disputes in recent hours, leaving dead and wounded and sparking panic among the residents.

In the city of Homs, the bodies of two citizens from the Alawite community were found shot in the head after they had been missing for days, in two separate incidents described as field executions. The first victim, a man in his sixties working as a taxi driver, was found near the Mills area in the northern part of the city, while the second, a construction worker from the Zahra neighborhood, was discovered dead inside Al-Waer Hospital one day after disappearing in the Al-Qahira neighborhood.

In eastern Aleppo countryside, a man was killed following a fight between two families in the city of Al-Safira, within areas controlled by the "National Army" mercenaries. The dispute escalated into armed violence, causing widespread tension and calls for local elders to intervene to contain the crisis. In another incident in southern Aleppo countryside, the village of Hober witnessed an armed clash between families, including individuals accused of loyalty to the former regime, resulting in four injuries and the confiscation of weapons from the attackers.

Additionally, three separate murders were reported: one in Damascus countryside where unknown gunmen targeted and killed a young man inside his shop in the town of Al-Rihan in Douma; in western Aleppo countryside, a young man was killed and his brother injured in an armed family dispute in the town of Kafr Taal; and in the village of Al-Muflasa in Jabal al-Hoss, a young man killed his cousin over a personal conflict. The perpetrator is reportedly a former affiliate of the previous regime.

These repeated incidents reflect the chaotic security situation prevailing in the Transitional Government’s areas, amid growing fears of escalating family and revenge conflicts and a lack of effective action by responsible authorities to maintain security and protect civilians
