Residents of Tirbespiyê: Leader's freedom is key to political solution

Residents of the city of Tirbespiyê in al-Jazira region renewed their call for an end to the isolation imposed on Abdullah Ocalan, emphasizing that securing his freedom would contribute to advancing the "Peace and Democratic Society" process and help find solutions to the crises facing the region.

On 27 February 2025, Abdullah Ocalan launched the "Peace and Democratic Society" initiative, calling for the advancement of the political solution process. However, the Turkish state has not yet taken practical steps consistent with these calls.

In this context, resident Hussein Khaled said that Abdullah Ocalan embraces a democratic vision, adding that "the key to resolving the issues of the Middle East lies in the ideas he puts forward." He stated that the Turkish state should respond to the calls for peace, allow meetings with Ocalan, and end the isolation imposed on him in order to create the necessary conditions for the success of the ongoing process.

Hussein Khaled continued: "Abdullah Ocalan represents the aspirations of many peoples, and we hope the way will be opened for him so that the current crises can be transformed into sustainable solutions."

For her part, resident Dilber Suleiman said that the isolation imposed on Abdullah Ocalan continues and that neither his family nor his lawyers have been able to visit him for a long time.

She added: "We demand that meetings with him be allowed immediately, and we look forward to achieving a comprehensive political solution."

Dilber further affirmed that women "will continue to follow the leader's path and philosophy," adding that they will continue their struggle and demand his freedom.

Meanwhile, Obeid Ahmed, a resident from the Arab community, said that Abdullah Ocalan has taken "many courageous steps" toward peace, calling on the Turkish state to take similar steps in support of this process.

Obeid Ahmed concluded by saying that Abdullah Ocalan's freedom "will have a positive impact on all peoples," affirming his commitment, as a member of the Arab community, to the ideas Ocalan advocates and calling for continued efforts to end his isolation and secure his freedom.
