Residents of Rojava adhere to self-defense, call for joining security forces

The people of Rojava continue to organize themselves in accordance with the demands of the current phase, reaffirming their commitment to self-defense. In this context, Fatima Suleiman from the town of al-Jal Agha stated that the people of Rojava, with all their components that have coexisted since the beginning of the Syrian crisis under the approach of the Democratic Nation, have adopted the principle of self-defense as the foundation for protecting their regions and preserving their security and stability.

Suleiman explained that what the region is facing today is “a systematic and premeditated attack by regional powers through their mercenaries.” She noted that over the past 14 years, these attempts have sought to undermine the region’s stability, but the unity of its components and the solidarity of its peoples have thwarted these plans each time. She added: “Unity is stronger than all their schemes, and we will preserve it.”

She emphasized that self-defense, alongside the military forces represented by the People’s Protection Units (YPG), the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), has contributed to protecting the region in recent years. She pointed out that the current stage, amid escalating attacks, requires strengthening this principle and treating it as an urgent necessity, calling on all residents of Rojava to defend their areas and join the security forces.

For his part, citizen Ali al-Khadr stressed that the current circumstances and the dangerous schemes targeting the region’s security and stability will not deter residents from adhering to the principle of self-defense. He said they will continue to remain in their areas regardless of agreements or changes, affirming that “today is a day of responsibility for every individual and every component living on the land of Rojava to protect the region from plans of killing, looting, and theft.”

Al-Khadr referred to the conditions in the cities of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, including killings, chaos, lack of security, and rising living costs. He said this underscores the importance of the role played by the Syrian Democratic Forces and the People’s and Women’s Protection Units in achieving security and stability in recent years.

For her part, Hafa Mohammed from al-Jal Agha affirmed that residents will continue to protect their areas and defend their gains and Kurdish unity against any schemes aimed at destabilizing them. She stated that the Syrian Democratic Forces and the People’s and Women’s Protection Units represent them, pledging to continue standing alongside them in protecting the region from young to old and safeguarding the gains won through the blood of their sons.

Hafa Mohammed concluded by calling for organizing ranks and joining the security forces, considering it a moral and national duty toward the land and the people.
