Residents of Jazera Canton head to Tishrin Dam to participate in protests

Since January 8, residents of the North and East Syria region have been organizing protests at Tishrin Dam to denounce the attacks by the Turkish occupation and to defend the dam.

This morning, dozens of residents from Hasakah, Tal Tamr, Darbasiyah, Tal Brak, and Al-Shaddadi gathered at the designated meeting point before heading toward Tishrin Dam to join the protests.

The residents assembled at Panorama Roundabout, where they were joined by others from Hasaka. ANHA agency gathered opinions from some of those heading to the dam. Zahra Ali, a member of the Kongra Star in Hasaka, stated: "We are heading to Tishrin Dam. We will resist the occupation. Protecting Tishrin Dam is a duty, and everyone must fulfill their responsibility."

Meanwhile, Botan Jaziri from Hasaka emphasized that the defense of Tishrin Dam is a victory for all of North and East Syria.

Another protester, Manour Youssef, pointed out that the attacks will not break the will of the region’s people, saying: "We are heading to Tishrin Dam to support the Women's Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces."

Amid chants praising the resistance of the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women's Protection Units, a convoy of vehicles set off for Tishrin Dam to join the protests.

Since December 8, 2024, the Turkish occupation has been launching attacks on Tishrin Dam and the Qereqozaqê Bridge, while the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women's Protection Units continue to resist these assaults.
