3 Kurdish citizens face prison and death sentences in Iran

The network announced that four Kurdish political prisoners from the cities of Bukan and Baneh in East Kurdistan were tried by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court in Urmia, and sentences of death and imprisonment were issued against them.

The network mentioned that the court sentenced a Kurdish citizen named Bijman Soltani (32 years old) to death, Rezghar Bigzada Baba Miri (47 years old) to 15 years in prison, and Ali Qasim (28 years old) to 10 years in prison, while Kawa Salhi (42 years old) was acquitted.

The network also reported that Iranian authorities obtained confessions from these detainees under torture and charged them with "premeditated murder."

Iranian authorities had arrested the four citizens in the cities of Bukan and Baneh in East Kurdistan under the pretext of their participation in the "Women, Life, Freedom" uprising, which erupted in mid-September 2022 following the death of Kurdish woman Jina Amini at the hands of the so-called "Iranian morality police" under the pretext of wearing the hijab.

According to the network's statistics, the Iranian regime executed 12 Kurdish citizens in January of this year, in addition to arresting 68 Kurdish citizens and activists.
