Reducing electricity supply to Sheikh Maqsoud -Ashrafieh due to fuel supply ban

According to the two latest circulars issued by the People's Municipality in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, numbered (16) and (17), the People's Municipality has reduced the operation of diesel generators during the day to only 6 hours and at night to 3 hours.

The two circulars, which went into effect today, stipulated operating hours for daytime operations from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and nighttime operations from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, along with the value of weekly subscriptions and receipt collection times.

The circular did not address the reasons for reducing working hours, which were initially 5 hours at night and 11 hours during the day. This necessitated obtaining a brief statement from the People's Municipality in the two neighborhoods.

ANHA agency's correspondent contacted the co-chair of the People's Municipality, Amina Bayram, who confirmed that the primary reason for the reduced working hours was the transitional government's continued blocking of fuel supplies to the two neighborhoods, despite the agreement to open the roads.

Brigadier General Alif Mohammed, a commander in the Internal Security Forces in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, previously revealed an agreement with the transitional government regarding the opening of roads. She explained that under the agreement brokered by the international coalition after the attack on the two neighborhoods, all roads leading to the neighborhoods were supposed to be opened after they were handed over armored vehicles. However, three roads were opened, and only for pedestrians, with vehicles still prohibited.

Amina Bayram noted that there are more than 120 generators supplying electricity to the neighborhoods in the morning and evening. However, the lack of diesel fuel has forced them to reduce their working hours, with the possibility of a complete shutdown if the transitional government continues to prevent the passage of fuel. This will contribute to creating numerous problems for the residents.
