Recalls female revolutionaries Sara, Rojbîn, and Ronahî in NE Syria

Within the framework of the activities denouncing the first Paris massacre and remembering the female revolutionaries Sakine Cansiz (Sara), Fidan Dogan (Rojbîn), and Leyla Şelmez (Ronahî), who were assassinated by agents of the Turkish occupation state in the capital, Paris, on January 9, 2013, the Hilal Zerin Women’s Culture Movement made a statement, the Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council issued two separate statements, while Kongra Star and the Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council in Aleppo held several lectures about their struggle.

 Qamishlo

The Hilal Zerin Movement for Women’s Culture made a statement in front of the Muhammad Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in the city of Qamishlo, which was read by the movement’s member, Zilan Majeed, in the presence of dozens of the movement’s female members.

The statement recalled the martyrs of the first and second Paris massacres, and the female politicians Seyfi Demir, Fatma Uyar, and Pakiza Nayir, who were martyred during the curfew in 2016 in the Salopi district of Şernakh in northern Kurdistan at the hands of Turkish fascism, and the statement pledged to complete the path of struggle of martyrs.

As for the statement of the Women’s Council of the Martyrs’ Families Council , it was delivered at the shrine of the martyr Dalil Sarukhan in the city of Qamishlo, and was read by council member Sabah Hussein, in the presence of council members, Kongra Star, and civil society organizations.

It stated at the beginning: “The Turkish hand of treachery was able to assassinate the 3 Kurdish activists on January 9, 2013 in Paris, and committed the second Paris massacre years later, without the French authorities doing anything to uncover the circumstances of these crimes and bring the perpetrators and those behind them to justice.” The Council affirmed, “Mystery still surrounds these crimes until this moment.”

In its statement, the Women's Council condemned these 2 massacres that targeted female activists in the political field, and indicated that the goal of such crimes is "to intimidate the Kurds from struggle and resistance."

It stressed that the path of the martyr Sakina Cansiz and her 2 comrades is the path of freedom and democracy and represents the values of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement. It also represents the total legacy of justice, truth, equality, conscience and freedom prominent in the toil of women and stemming from the air, water and roots of this land that extends for thousands of years.

The Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council, through its statement, appealed to women's rights committees around the world "to intervene and put pressure on France to take action to uncover the circumstances of the heinous crime as quickly as possible."

 Aleppo

Under the slogan, “Our revenge for the Paris massacre is the victory of the women’s revolution and freedom,” Kongra Star and the Women’s Council of the Martyrs’ Families Council held lectures.

Before giving the lectures, a video was shown, which included an overview of the struggle path of the martyrs Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Dogan, and Leyla Şelmez. Then the administrator of Kongra Star, Arjin Amed, spoke about the reasons for targeting the leader, Sakine Cansiz, and said: “The first Paris massacre is an extension of the international conspiracy hatched against the leader Abdullah Ocalan".

Arjin Amed confirmed that the martyr Sara, with her knowledge, strength, and resistance, proved herself in the history of Kurdish society and the entire world, and that she is an example of a free woman. She said: “Because she refused women to be subjected to what she was subjected to at the hands of the Turkish fascist authorities, she fought to chart the path of freedom for women.”
