PYD, political body discuss political situation, guaranteeing rights via law

As part of the integration process and the implementation of the January 29th Agreement signed between the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, and the head of the Interim Government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) received a political delegation from the Interim Government on Tuesday at its headquarters in Qamishlo.

The delegation was headed by Hassen Abbas; the head of the PYD's political office in Hasaka Governorate, Vivian Beho and Hassen Sherro; the co-chairs of the Executive Council in Jazira Canton, and Jiyan Hassen; the advisor to the Autonomous Administration. They were received by Gharib Hesso; the co-chair of the PYD, Fawza Yousef; the member of the party's co-presidency, Sema Bakdash and Suleiman Arab; the co-chairs of the party's Public Relations Office.

The meeting is being held closed to the media, and after its ending, the participants issued statements to media outlets.

In this context, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party, Gharib Hesso, said, "This is the first time that such a visit has taken place by the political body of the Interim Government, as it visited political parties and our party. We see it as a new and positive step, as it is the first time that such steps have been taken in the history of Syria, and we hope that other steps will follow it".

Regarding the meeting's content, Hesso said, "In our discussions, we focused on the situation in Syria and its diversity, and on the necessity of guaranteeing rights through law. We also emphasized the importance of visiting all Kurdish political parties and other components and parties," pointing to the need for issuing new laws that allow all to exercise their duties freely and comfortably, in addition to issuing a new constitution for the country.

Concerning the elections, Hesso said, "There are specialized committees, and this particular political committee is concerned with the future of Syria, and it came to visit a number of political parties. In addition, a statement will be issued by the electoral commission in the coming period, as we also discussed the upcoming elections."

Hesso noted that the delegation also met with the families of prisoners who protested in front of the party building, where the meeting was held. He said, "All prisoners will be released in the near future."

For his part, Osama Sheikh Ali, the member of the political body in Hasaka Governorate, said, "This is our first visit to Hasaka Governorate. We will try to make this phase a milestone for building a new political culture based on dialogue and discussion on all issues that concern all segments of our Syrian people."

He concluded, "We will continue our outreach to political parties, movements, and social organizations. This visit is just the beginning, not the last, and we will continue it to make it a new starting point for building a new Syria together, hand in hand."
