PYD in Amuda discusses Kurdish unity, integration

The Democratic Union Party office in Amuda held a dialogue seminar today at the Arta Café, entitled "Kurdish Unity and Integration," with broad participation from politicians and intellectuals.

The seminar began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Then, Sihanouk Dibo, a member of the General Council of the Democratic Union Party and representative of the Autonomous Administration in the Gulf States, spoke about developments in the Middle East, regional conflicts, and the role of international powers. He considered the roots of the crises to lie in historical agreements such as Sykes-Picot, and that the continued instability is linked to the unresolved Kurdish issue.

He pointed out that several agreements, including the Ankara Agreement and subsequent divisions, aimed to separate Kurdish regions from one another, but they failed to suppress the will of the Kurdish people.

Regarding the situation in Rojava, he explained that the revolution led to the establishment of the Autonomous Administration, culminating in the recent agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces SDF and the Syrian Interim Government, despite ongoing challenges.

He also reviewed the history of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) since 2012, emphasizing its pivotal role in the revolution and noting that the Kurdish cause has gained international prominence as a result of the sacrifices made.

He spoke about the Kurdish Unity Conference scheduled for April 2025, stressing the importance of maintaining a unified Kurdish stance and rejecting any attempts to undermine it, while also mentioning the possibility of holding a future Syrian Kurdish conference.

He addressed the provisions of the January 29th agreement, emphasizing that it has not yet been fully implemented. He stated, "From a military standpoint, the situation remains unresolved. There is the issue of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and the lack of recognition of them as a women's force. From a security perspective, there is the official non-recognition of Kurdish language certificates due to Decree 13, as well as the issue of Hasakah Governorate and its powers."

He concluded by reiterating his rejection of the recent appointments due to the weak Kurdish representation within them. He asserted that these appointments do not represent the will of the Kurdish people in Rojava and could have repercussions for the future of the Kurdish cause.

At the conclusion of the seminar, participants raised several questions and inquiries, which were answered by Sihanouk Dibo, a member of the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and representative of the Autonomous Administration in the Gulf States.
