PYD Co-chair: War will not solve anything, new steps are needed

The co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Gerîb Hiso, spoke to ANHA's agency about the attacks by the Turkish occupying state, the message from leader Abdullah Ocalan, and the statements of Turkish officials regarding leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Kurdish issue. 

 "The solution to the Turkish problem is not beyond the borders."

 Gerîb Hiso pointed out the Turkish state's insistence on adopting brutal policies and policies of invasion and occupation, which is why it attacks the region's people and institutions in various ways. He mentioned that it has not succeeded in achieving its goals through these attacks so far; on the contrary, it has lost its role and failed in the Middle East.

 He pointed out that the attacks on the region are terrorist attacks, saying: "The Turkish state has always believed that its survival depends on its attacks on the Kurds. It considered this a solution, but it is no longer possible to reach a solution in this way. It achieved nothing through massacres, invasions, and occupations over a whole century, yet it remains insistent on its brutal and fascist policies. It no longer has a role in the Middle East either. It has failed and is beginning to fragment and witness major internal conflicts. The solution to Turkish internal problems and conflicts is not outside its borders. These attacks it launches on our region are terrorist and cowardly attacks, so their time is short. The era of starving and displacing this people is over, and the will of the people is above these attacks."

 Global deception

 Gerîb Hiso commented on the silence of international powers regarding these attacks, saying: "The international community raised its voice loudly for the Palestinian people but remained silent about what the Kurds are facing. This is false justice. The Turkish state condemns what is happening in Palestine but launches genocidal attacks on the Kurds. This is great hypocrisy and a big lie."

 "There is a need for dialogue."

 "Turkey and Northern Kurdistan need peace and dialogue," with these words, Gerîb Hiso pointed to Turkey's failure, saying: "If these steps are not taken, Turkey will suffer severe losses at the regional and global levels. Turkey is losing its weight, and the Turkish officials know this well. Turkey is forced at this stage to take steps towards dialogue; it is compelled to start a dialogue with the Kurds and all components in Turkey. However, there is no trust in the internal dialogue that Turkey conducts alone, because it has not conducted any internal dialogue or started any official peace previously. There is occupation, killing, and brutality; it occupies Syria, Iraq, Karabakh, and Libya. Turkey has humiliated itself economically, politically, militarily, and socially with this occupation, and it will not be able to achieve any result in this way."

 "Turkey missed a historic opportunity."

 The co-chair of the Democratic Union Party, Gerîb Hiso, commented on the statements made by the authorities of the Justice and Development Party and the Nationalist Movement Party regarding leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Kurdish issue, saying: "The authorities made these statements, but it is still unclear how serious they are in these statements, and whether there is a basis for that in Turkey or not." The Turkish state has closed this door for 26 years by arresting leader Abdullah Ocalan. Leader Abdullah Ocalan is a historic opportunity, and Turkey is wasting this opportunity. If it weren't for the resistance of Imrali, the peoples, the guerrillas of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, and the women, the Justice and Development Party and the Nationalist Movement Party would not have made these statements.

 "Leader Abdullah Ocalan is the negotiator."

 "This stage requires seriousness," with these words, Gerîb Hiso highlighted the importance of this stage, and continued his speech saying: "If the ruling authority in Turkey wants to open a new page, then please do; for the interlocutor of solution, peace, and dialogue is leader Abdullah Ocalan."

 "Physical freedom is a necessity."

 Omar Ocalan, the nephew of leader Abdullah Ocalan, was able to meet with him on October 23rd after 44 months of separation. He shared information about his condition and the message he sent on October 24th. Gerîb Hiso commented on this matter, saying: "Leader Abdullah Ocalan's message brought great joy to the heart of every person who struggles for their physical freedom. The leader clearly states: 'My door is open for dialogue, peace, and taking a new step. If you want to take a step towards a democratic and peaceful Turkey, put an end to the old policies. Turkey needs a new phase, and therefore, there is no benefit in continuing the isolation. Physical freedom is a necessity, and there can be no negotiations under isolation.'"

 "The developments in Turkey will reflect on Syria."

 Gerîb Hiso pointed out that Syria needs reconciliation as much as Turkey does, and mentioned that any development in Turkey will reflect on Syria. He said, "Just as there is a need for dialogue in Turkey, there is a need for it in Syria as well. The Damascus government ignores this and shies away from dialogue." Any development in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan will have a positive impact on Syria, and if it is negative there, it will naturally be negative in Syria as well. Both sides are experiencing a state of paralysis and weakness. If the problem in Turkey is resolved, it will also be resolved in Syria. For example, the agreements between Turkey and Syria will be annulled, the occupation must end, the Syrian crisis must be resolved, and everyone must return to their homes. However, as long as there is a crisis in Turkey and an occupation abroad, this will hinder the development of internal dialogue and resolution.
