Hundreds of residents in the occupied city of Manbij held a large demonstration today, Tuesday, to protest the killing of Abdullah al-Moussa al-Hassan, a resident of the al-Asadiya neighborhood in the south of the city, and the wounding of another person, at the hands of Turkish-backed mercenaries.

The demonstrators gathered in front of the gate of the security compound in the city center, which the mercenaries use as their headquarters and which is run by Turkish intelligence. They demanded that the perpetrators be held accountable and that the ongoing violations and crimes against the residents be stopped.

In a related context, hundreds of teachers in the city and its surrounding countryside held a sit-in protest in front of the educational complex building, rejecting their marginalization and the non-payment of their salaries, which have been outstanding for months.

Manbij and its countryside have recently witnessed a series of popular protests against the practices of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, which the locals consider a cause of the spread of crime and violations in the region.
