Al-Karama Square in Sweida witnessed, today Saturday, popular protests in solidarity with the city of Sqelbiya, and in rejection of the attacks targeting the components, in addition to demanding an end to arrests and cases of kidnapping in Sweida.

Protesters also expressed their rejection of the siege imposed on Sweida, demanding the entry of fuel and food supplies, amid deteriorating living conditions.

Activists, during the protest, pointed to the state of tension in the region, with talk of the spread of armed groups on the outskirts of some villages, in light of the lack of trust in negotiations with the interim government, and the raising of demands related to local governance and democracy.

Participants raised banners bearing slogans against corruption and violence, including: “No to mercenaries,” “No to corruption,” and “No independence without justice,” affirming the continuation of their peaceful movements to achieve their demands.
