As the twenty-seventh anniversary of the February 15, 1999 conspiracy approaches an event that targeted the peoples of the region through the person of leader Abdullah Ocalan these same peoples, particularly in Rojava, are once again facing what is described as a conspiracy orchestrated by the forces of capitalist modernity. Politicians in Tel Tamr believe that the attacks currently targeting Rojava are not isolated incidents, but rather a direct continuation of the February 15, 1999 conspiracy.

Khaled Al-Khalaf, politician and Co-Chair of the Tel Tamr City Council, affirmed that the forces behind the conspiracy that targeted Abdullah Ocalan are today attempting to reproduce it in a new form, this time targeting the structure of the autonomous administration and the gains achieved through years of popular and military struggle.

He emphasized that the threads of past and present are intertwined, adding: “The conspiracy that targeted Abdullah Ocalan aimed to extinguish the spirit of liberation within Kurdish society and strike at the core of its political and social project. Today, military, economic, and political pressures are being exerted on Rojava for the same purpose: to dismantle the will of society and prevent any form of democratic organization.”

He explained that the failure of the February 15 conspiracy at the time was not incidental, but rather the direct result of popular awareness and steadfast adherence to the principles of freedom and democracy. He stated: “Today, Rojava stands on those same foundations, but with a stronger organizational and administrative structure and broader political experience, making it more capable of confronting challenges.”

Al-Khalaf stressed that confronting the current conspiracy requires unity of ranks, the activation of diplomatic efforts, and the development of political and social resistance tools, noting that this sensitive stage demands collective responsibility from all forces and actors.

For his part, politician Lazgin Basho stated that the conspiracy that targeted the Kurdish people through Abdullah Ocalan on February 15 was an attempt to undermine the project of freedom and silence the voice demanding rights, but the will of the peoples at the time thwarted its objectives.

He affirmed that the same conspiracy continues today, albeit through different tools and methods, including military escalation and political and media pressure aimed at undermining the autonomous administration and eroding the democratic experiment built over recent years.

Politicians in Tel Tamr concluded that the peoples who defeated the February 15 conspiracy will also defeat the current one, relying on a solid societal will and a political experience stronger than ever before.
