At a sensitive stage facing Rojava and the four parts of Kurdistan, and amid escalating threats and risks targeting the Kurdish people, the voices of mothers and citizens emerge as a clear message to the world: Kurdish unity and resistance are the path to survival.

In this context, mothers of martyrs and residents from neighborhoods in the city of al-Hasakah expressed their steadfast support for their forces and their attachment to their land, calling on Kurdish political parties to assume their historic responsibilities. They affirmed that what is unfolding today is a struggle for existence and dignity.

“we will protect Rojava until our last breath”

Haifa Mohammed from the Tel Hajar neighborhood said: “The mothers of martyrs will remain standing firm until freedom is achieved,” affirming their full support for their forces, including the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), until their last breath.

She added: “Supporting the political parties and defense forces is a national duty. Rojava is not alone; it stands backed by the will of a people who have given their most precious sacrifices for this land.”

Haifa Mohammed emphasized that word and resistance are one, that the people possess strength and will not fear. She noted that every inch of the four parts of Kurdistan has been watered with the blood of martyrs, and no faction or force will be allowed to enter Rojava.

She stressed that the mothers of martyrs and the people will protect this land until their last breath, calling on all to support the people and their forces and urging political parties to demonstrate their presence in this decisive stage, as these forces defend not just one part, but all of Kurdistan.

History of pain and an unbreakable will

For her part, Joza Maamo from the Salhiya neighborhood affirmed that the strength of the Kurdish people today lies in their unity, noting that Kurdish leaders and parties stand with their people and will not yield to enemies.

She explained that the long history of the Kurds is filled with injustice and massacres, and that Kurdish hearts carry sparks of resistance that will never be extinguished. She questioned the ongoing hostility toward a people who have demanded nothing but freedom and justice.

She added: “The world must know the truth of Kurdish history. The Kurdish people are no longer as they once were, after having paid a heavy price in blood.” She called on Kurds to stand as one hand against anyone seeking to oppress them, pointing out that the unity achieved has enabled them to withstand their enemies.

Joza Maamo called on Kurdish parties to take serious steps to demand the rights of the Kurdish people and to address foreign states with a unified position. She affirmed her rejection of war, bloodshed, and the continued forced displacement endured by Kurds year after year.

Sheikh Maqsoud, Halabja, and Amuda: wounds not forgotten

Joza Maamo also referred to the events in Sheikh Maqsoud, describing them as massacres against civilians, and affirmed that the resistance of the fighters there will remain a symbol of dignity and that the blood of martyrs will not be in vain.

She recalled massacres suffered by the Kurdish people, such as the Amuda Cinema and Halabja, among others across the four parts of Kurdistan, stressing that Kurdish demands have always been and continue to be peace, freedom, and stability.

In concluding her remarks, Joza Maamo stated that today’s resistance is a resistance for survival like the steadfast mountains of Kurdistan that have remained defiant in the face of enemies for centuries. She called for strengthening Kurdish unity worldwide so that Kurds may stand united against injustice.

“we call for a Kurdish National Congress”

In his turn, Mohammed Badran from the Mufti neighborhood said they stand today at the forefront demanding Kurdish unity, affirming that the people want to be united during this critical stage.

Mohammed Badran called on Kurdish political parties to seriously address the demands for unity and to convene a Kurdish national congress, noting that listening to the voice of the people is sufficient to overcome all differences.

He concluded by stating that the world has abandoned the Kurds on many occasions, but the people have always stood behind their forces across the four parts of Kurdistan. He called for these forces to become stronger and freer, as they represent the first line of defense for the Kurdish people and their very existence.
