Politician: Turkey's ignoring of Kurdish issue may lead to serious consequences

After more than a year since the launch of the peace process, the Freedom Movement called on Turkey, during a press conference, to take legal and constitutional steps that ensure the development of the democratic path and the recognition of the linguistic, cultural, and political rights of the Kurdish people. They emphasized that Ankara has not yet provided any practical measures or a legal environment that allows for safe and legitimate political work.

In this context, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party office in al-Hasakah city, Farhan Daoud, said, "Since the leader Abdullah Ocalan initiated the peace process, the Freedom Movement has taken steps that it considered its responsibilities, while the Turkish state has not taken any corresponding steps to advance the process."

Daoud explained that the Freedom Movement views the peace process as a strategic path to resolving the Kurdish issue in Turkey, while the Turkish state approaches it from a tactical perspective. He noted that Ankara still refuses to recognize the Kurds as a partner within the state, as it has always sought to annihilate this people and establish a chauvinistic regime at the expense of other nations.

Daoud warned of the repercussions of the continued failure to resolve the Kurdish issue on the stability of the region and Turkey itself, explaining that Turkey's acceptance of the peace process came as a result of international and regional transformations in the Middle East. Therefore, it is taking formal steps that do not yield actual results on the ground.

 In his discussion about regional developments, Daoud said that the real problem lies in Turkey, which directly intervenes in Middle Eastern issues, especially in Syria. Without this intervention, the Syrian scene would have been different.

He pointed out that Turkey could face a major disaster if it does not take the Kurdish issue and other regional issues into consideration, as evidenced by emerging international alliances such as the alliance between Greece, Israel, and India, which did not come out of nowhere but rather as a result of strategic arrangements and goals. The continued refusal of Turkey to change could negatively impact it and lead to serious consequences for its future.
