Political council of central, Western Syria condemns attack on Hama villages

The Political Council of Central and Western Syria issued a statement regarding the attacks launched on villages in the al-Ghab Plain area, northwest of Hama. It said it condemned the attacks in the strongest terms, as they targeted civilians, resulting in the loss of two lives and the wounding of others.

The villages of Hawarat Amurin, Nahr al-Bared, and Saqiyat Najm were attacked by transitional government forces today. The council's statement indicated that a large number of residents were arrested, and their property, including motorcycles and homes, was stolen.

The Political Council of Central and Western Syria noted in a statement that the village of Hawarat Amurin is the home of Rawan, the girl who was subjected to the crime of sexual assault. It considered that the forces had once again "returned to complete the killing and violations in her village and the surrounding villages."

The statement emphasized that these crimes "represent a flagrant violation of all humanitarian laws and norms," ​​and held the transitional government in Syria responsible for the crimes and violations committed.

The Political Council of Central and Western Syria called on international powers, the Security Council, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take urgent action to stop these "massacres," protect civilians, and rescue children and women from these grave violations.
