People of Raqqa, IDPs of Afrin condemn massacres in Ashrafieh

The massacres carried out by the mercenaries of the Interim Government, backed by the Turkish occupation, against the residents of the Ashrafieh neighborhood in the city of Aleppo have sparked a wave of anger and widespread condemnation in Raqqa, as the people of Raqqa and the displaced from Afrin expressed their solidarity with the residents of the besieged neighborhoods in Aleppo.

Mohammad Haidar, a member of the Afrin and al-Shahba Council in Raqqa Canton, said: “What happened in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh is unacceptable by all standards.”

He added: “We in the Afrin and al-Shahba Council stand by our people there, and we affirm that the solution lies in dialogue and in building a democratic Syria that respects all its components.”

Jumaa Hassan explained that the people of Raqqa deeply feel the tragedy that has befallen the residents of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, saying: “Your pain is our pain, your blood is our blood, we are all sons of Syria, and what unites us is greater than any differences.”

Hassan called for “an immediate end to these massacres and for peace to prevail among the sons of one homeland.”

For his part, Walid Ramadan said: “Our message to our people in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh is that you are not alone. Raqqa stands with you, and we call on all Syrians to unite in order to build a free and democratic homeland.”

Ramadan also delivered a strong message of solidarity to the residents of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, affirming that a new Syria can only be built on the foundations of peace, justice, and equality among all its people.
