Kurdish Red Crescent calls to stop attacks on Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, open humanitarian corridors

Today, from its center in Hasakah, the Kurdish Red Crescent launched an urgent appeal, warning of a severe deterioration in humanitarian conditions in Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zeid in Aleppo, due to heavy attacks that have persisted for four consecutive days. These attacks have resulted in 100 civilian martyrs, including 11 martyrs, most of whom are women, elderly people, and children.

The statement, read in Arabic and Kurdish by the joint chair of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Hadiya Abdullah, and Daleksh Issa, explained that the shelling targeted civilian homes and essential service facilities, creating a catastrophic humanitarian situation amid a tight siege that residents of these neighborhoods have endured for nearly five months, with basic supplies, especially in healthcare and hospitals, running low.

The Kurdish Red Crescent noted that the attacking forces have so far prevented any medical or humanitarian teams from entering to evacuate civilian casualties, while continuing the shelling. It described these actions as a blatant violation of human rights conventions and international humanitarian law.

The organization called on all relevant international and local actors to assume their moral and humanitarian responsibilities, work to immediately stop attacks targeting civilians, and open safe humanitarian corridors. It announced its full readiness to enter the neighborhoods to evacuate the wounded and deliver humanitarian aid once a safe corridor is secured.

Following the statement, a Kurdish Red Crescent convoy, consisting of 15 vehicles, headed toward Aleppo.
