Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visits Mar Assia al-Hakim Church in Derbasiyah

The Church of St. Assia al-Hakim in the city of Derbasiyah welcomed His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Syriac Orthodox Church, and Supreme Head of the Syriac Orthodox Church worldwide, amid a large gathering representing the diverse components of the region.

The reception took place in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with the participation of Christian families, representatives of Arab and Kurdish tribes, social figures, dignitaries of the region, and representatives of political parties.

This visit reflects the deep-rooted relations between the various communities of the region and underscores the values of co-existence. It also highlights the spiritual and social role played by the Syriac Orthodox Church in strengthening community unity and fostering the culture of peace.
