Participants begin arriving at venue of Kurdish Unity Conference

The "Unity of the Kurdish Rank and Stance in Rojava - Kurdistan" Conference will officially kick off shortly, with more than 400 figures from Rojava, North and South Kurdistan, and several regions of Syria participating. The event is taking place at Azadi Park in the city of Qamishlo, in the Jazira Canton.

According to the preparatory committee, the conference will see the participation of representatives from all Kurdish parties, women’s and youth organizations, cultural and social figures, artists, and tribal elders from Rojava, along with Kurdish figures coming from Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, al-Bab, and Azaz.

A delegation from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) from North Kurdistan will also attend, along with representatives of parties and organizations from South Kurdistan. Messages of support from parties outside the homeland will also be read during the event.

The conference will kick off at 10:00 AM with a welcoming speech and the election of the conference’s bureau, followed by an opening speech by the General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi. Afterward, discussions and speeches by participating guests will take place, in addition to reading the messages sent to the conference.

Following the guest speeches and discussions, the conference proceedings will continue privately without media coverage. The participants will then discuss the "Draft Kurdish Unity Document" that was previously proposed, aiming to debate and approve its final version. The conference will conclude with the issuance of a final statement presenting its outcomes to the public.

The media coverage of the conference is notable, as all Kurdish and international media institutions were invited. According to the preparatory committee, more than 60 media outlets and around 200 journalists have been invited to cover the event.
