Newroz celebrations in Rojava kicked off with the lighting of the Newroz flame and the reading of a message from leader Abdullah Ocalan on the occasion of Newroz 2026.

Newroz 2026 celebrations were launched at the 12 March Martyrs Stadium in the city of Qamishlo, the village of Jaghir Bazar in Amuda, the Dirêjîk area in Tirbespiyê, the Western Dam in Hasakah, and Golbistan in Darbasiyah.

The celebrations began with a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs, in honor of their memory and in appreciation of the sacrifices they made. This was followed by the reading of the message of Leader Abdullah Ocalan on the occasion of Newroz 2026, after which the mothers of the martyrs lit the Newroz flame.

Several speeches are scheduled to be delivered on the occasion of Newroz.
