New mass grave found in rural Damascus

A new mass grave has been discovered near Asal al-Ward in rural Damascus, containing the remains of four individuals who had been missing since 2014.

The victims include two residents from the village of Hosh Arab, one from the town of Hafir al-Fawqa, and one from the city of Yabroud. Their identities were confirmed by family members.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 39 mass graves have been uncovered since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, holding the remains of 2,791 victims.

These graves are spread across several governorates:

Homs: 11 graves with 1,275 bodies

Damascus: 3 graves with 1,025 bodies

Deir ez-Zor: 6 graves with 114 bodies

Rural Damascus: 6 graves with 180 bodies

Daraa: 5 graves with 141 bodies

Hama: 5 graves with 42 bodies

Idlib: 2 graves with 10 bodies

Aleppo: 1 grave with 4 bodies
