The Damascus–Sweida highway witnessed heightened security tensions after personnel at the “Adliya checkpoint” prevented members of Bedouin tribes from traveling to Damascus.

In response, tribal members once again blocked the Sweida–Damascus road, demanding guarantees for its safety and their return to their homes following their forced displacement.

Activists on social media circulated a video purportedly showing tribesmen cutting off the road, with plumes of smoke rising in several areas.

This incident comes after armed units of the Transitional Government and affiliated militants violated the ceasefire agreement in Sweida by shelling the town of Ara, west of the province, from their positions in Khirbet Samar. No casualties or injuries were reported.
