Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh delegation pays visit to Syrian Council of Tribes in Aleppo

The visit comes at a critical time, as residents suffer from severe shortages of basic necessities such as milk, fuel, flour, and many other essential items, due to a blockade imposed by the Transitional Government forces in Syria.

The meeting at the Council of Tribes in Aleppo began with a warm welcome. Sheikh Mehrab Hammoud, leader of the Boushabban tribe, received the delegations and emphasized that the council is a home for all Syrians, and that unity among the country’s different communities is essential. He added: “Together, hand in hand, we can overcome the challenges we face.”

One of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh tribal elders, Ali Al-Hassan, stressed the need to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood among the Syrian people, saying: “We have rid ourselves of Ba’athist tyranny, and today we need to unite as brothers to relieve the suffering of people in the besieged neighborhoods.”

He called for the immediate lifting of the blockade on Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zeid neighborhoods to ensure the delivery of food and medical supplies.

On his part, an administrator at the Council of Tribes and elders of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods said that Syria today needs unity and overcoming the divisions that separate its people.

 He emphasized that Syrian blood is sacred and called for peaceful solutions, highlighting the importance of dialogue over conflict.

He added: “We are here to tell everyone: the solution must be through understanding and agreement, away from the language of weapons.”

In conclusion, the participants emphasized the need to unify efforts among all parties to reach a solution that guarantees the dignity and rights of Syrians in all regions, stressing that this initiative is a step toward peace and stability in Syria.
