NE Syria Teachers' Union met with International Trade Union Confederation

The Teachers' Union of North and East Syria concluded its series of diplomatic meetings in Brussels, Belgium, with an official meeting with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the global representative of trade unions. The meeting was attended by the union's diplomatic relations officer, Nisreen Reshk.

The meeting focused on discussing the situation of civil society in North and East Syria, as well as a comprehensive assessment of the reality of civil society work across Syria amid the political, economic, and security challenges facing the country.

For their part, ITUC representatives emphasized the importance of cooperation with civil society organizations in North and East Syria, considering them among the most organized and active civil society groups in Syria today and among the most prominent actors in supporting labor and democratic rights.

This meeting represents an important step toward strengthening the union's international relations and expanding its support network in global trade union forums. This will enhance the voice of teachers in North and East Syria on the international stage and push for broader support for education issues and trade union rights in the region. It was the culmination of a tour that lasted more than a month, during which the union met with a number of international organizations and educational and human rights unions.
