Narjis Mohammadi demands accountability for Iranian authorities of deliberately killing young man

Iranian activist Narjis Mohammadi stressed the need to hold the Iranian authorities accountable, describing them as "a regime full of hatred, repression and discrimination against critics, protesters, opponents and the Iranian people."

Narjis Mohammadi posted a message on Instagram in which she pointed out that "the Iranian regime has turned its back on law, justice, the East and humanity." In another part of her letter, Narjis asked, "What does this system understand from the suffering of the oppressed homeless?"

Mohammad Mirmousawy, a 36-year-old man from the village of Sayed Mahaleh in Rodbaneh district in Lahijan city, Iran, was arrested during a local conflict and lost his life to torture during detention.

For its part, the Iranian police command justified the murder of Mohammad Mirmousawy as the result of "a lack of control over anger and emotions on the part of some employees and disregard for the condition of the accused."

Commenting on this police story, Mohammadi stated: "This regime is the same regime that executed the young protester in the "Women, Life, Freedom" protests on charges of placing the trash in the middle of the street as a civil protest movement, and now describes the catastrophic crime as the result of a lack of control over emotions and anger?"

In her letter, she stressed that the Iranian authorities are "gambling with our lives and deaths," and continued, "It is a gamble that will ultimately lead to a great loss for the authoritarian theocracy."

Activist Narjis Mohammadi was arrested in October 2021, and since then she has been sentenced to 13 years and 3 months in prison in various cases, and while in prison she faced a new case for her human rights activities and sending statements and writings outside prison.

Narjis Mohammadi was awarded the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize on October 6, 2023.
