Lina Suleiman, the mother of Mohammed Jamil Ramo (27), a fighter in the Syrian Democratic Forces, disclosed details about the loss of contact with her son and his capture during the forces’ repositioning operation in the Deir Hafer area in the countryside of Aleppo.

Lina Suleiman explained that her son joined the military forces in the city of Qamishlo about 13 years ago, and headed to the Deir Hafer area on January 10, amid escalating tensions in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo.

She added that contact with him was lost on January 17, 2026, during the repositioning operation carried out in accordance with the agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government. She noted that ten days after his capture, he managed to send a voice recording to his family in which he identified himself, confirming that he was detained in the city of Aleppo and in good health.

She further stated that communication with him occurred once again through a phone call two days before Eid al-Fitr, which temporarily reassured the family. However, concern continues to dominate them as contact has since been blocked again.

Lina Suleiman pointed out that three of her sons were together in Deir Hafer: one returned injured, another returned safely, while Mohammed was captured during the repositioning operation.

In conclusion, Lina Suleiman appealed to the relevant authorities to work on securing the release of her son and all detainees, saying: “We demand the release of my son and all detainees; they are all our sons. If my son does not return, I will go and demand him back myself.”
