Mother of detainee appeals for urgent action to reveal her son’s fate

The mother of detainee Siamand Ismail has called on the relevant authorities to take urgent action to reveal the fate of the prisoners, stressing that families have been suffering for months without any information.

Sheikha Jadaan Said Ali, from the town of Karbawi near Qamishlo, urged authorities to work on uncovering the fate of the detainees and securing their release, as news about her son Siamand Ismail and hundreds of other prisoners has been cut off for over three months.

She explained that her son, Siamand Ismail (22 years old), who is fatherless and the head of his family, joined the ranks of the Syrian Democratic Forces for several years, then left for a period, and recently returned to defend his homeland and local community amid the deteriorating situation.

She added that her son went to Deir ez-Zor at the end of 2025, and contact with him was lost on January 18, 2026. Since that date, they have received no information on his status or whereabouts.

Sheikha expressed the suffering of mothers, saying: “Our hearts are burning for our children, some of whom have families and children, and we know nothing about them. We call for urgent intervention to release them, especially since some are wounded.”

She concluded by noting that they have heard repeated promises about the release of the detainees but are still waiting for their children to be freed.
