Military buildup, intensified attacks targeting outskirts of Deir Hafer, civilians

For several days now, the city of Deir Hafer and its surrounding countryside, which falls under the Tabqa canton, have witnessed a large-scale military buildup from three directions: south, west, and north, amidst escalating attacks targeting surrounding villages and towns.

According to informed sources, the attack involves mercenaries from the "Al-Amshat and Hamza Brigades" and the Sultan Murad Brigade.

According to information obtained by our agency, mercenary positions are deployed in the village of Rasem al-Harmal – al-Yamam, north of Deir Hafer, in addition to Tell al-Ma'az, Hamima Kabir, Hamima Saghir, and Umm Zulaylah, west of the city. Military movements have also been observed from south of Deir Hafer towards Sabkhat al-Jaboul. The recent attacks over the past few days have resulted in the deaths of three civilians: Zakaria al-Satouf, a 10-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old boy.

Two days ago, a civilian was also shot by mercenaries on the Abu Hanaya Bridge near the villages of Deir Hafer.

The villages frequently targeted are: Tell Khassaf, Zubaydi, al-Mabouja, Umm al-Murra, al-Ahmadiya, Rasm al-Krum, al-Kayariya, and Umm Tanina. These villages are home to approximately 15,000 people.

The city of Deir Hafer and its surrounding villages are home to about 17,000 families, totaling approximately 89,000 people.

Sources also reported that mercenaries affiliated with the interim government are deployed along a 78-kilometer stretch of the northern, southern, and western axes of Deir Hafer and the city of Maskana.
