Metro Center appoints legal advisor to investigate in arrest Suleiman Ahmed  

The Metro Center for the Protection of Journalists' Rights issued a statement, calling on the authorities of Southern Kurdistan to reveal the fate of journalist and member of Roj news agency, Suleiman Muhammad Ahmed.

The statement also called for "taking the necessary measures to ensure the safe return of journalist Suleiman Ahmed to his work."

The statement stated, "The Metro Center appointed its legal advisor to investigate the case of journalist Suleiman Ahmed."

This comes after Roj news agency confirmed, this morning, that the authorities of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, which dominates the rule of Southern Kurdistan, had arrested the editor of their agency, Suleiman Muhammad Ahmed, at the Fish Khabour crossing, during his return from North and East Syria.

The agency denounced the arrest of one of its members, demanding that the Kurdistan Democratic Party reveal his fate and release him immediately.

Suleiman's mother, through our agency, asked the relevant authorities in Southern Kurdistan to reveal the fate of her son, after his return from the city of Aleppo to his workplace in Sulaymaniyah.

Contact with the editor of Roj news agency has been lost since last Wednesday, when he was scheduled to arrive in southern Kurdistan via the Fish Khabour crossing, but news of him suddenly stopped after he entered the crossing.
