Mercenaries kill director of Osman Hospital, his nephew in Ashrafieh

The Health Authority of North and East Syria issued an official statement in front of its headquarters in the city of Raqqa, exposing the targeting of hospitals and the health sector in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo by mercenaries of the interim government, supported by the Turkish occupying state.

The statement revealed grave information uncovering the true nature of these mercenaries, explaining that on 8 January they infiltrated part of the Ashrafieh neighborhood and attacked Osman Hospital.

It stated:
“An extrajudicial field execution was carried out against the director of Osman Hospital, martyr Adnan Osman, and his nephew, pharmacist Ali Osman, who had remained in the hospital to protect it and serve patients. This is the hospital they built and managed through their own efforts.”

The statement emphasized that all international laws and conventions including the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court clearly stipulate the necessity of protecting civilians, safeguarding civilian objects, and ensuring special protection for medical facilities and healthcare workers.

It concluded that this targeting constitutes a war crime and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
