Massive demonstration in Sweida demands right to self-determination

A large public gathering took place on Wednesday at al-Saraya Square in the city of Sweida, where dozens of people demonstrated to demand the right to self-determination. The demonstration witnessed significant participation from various civil society groups and local residents.

The demonstrators raised banners calling for the fulfillment of the residents' demands, emphasizing the importance of respecting the law and consolidating the right to self-determination.

Activists participated in a previous demonstration that took place on Saturday at al-Karama Square under the slogan "Sacrificing Souls for the Martyrs' Blood," demanding a free press and the disclosure of facts. The participants declared, "Sweida is writing its own destiny... no one decides for it," and "The only thing this life deserves is to tell the truth... let us work for the truth." They affirmed that these actions are part of ongoing efforts to preserve freedoms and reject any attempts to suppress the will of the people.

The protesters stressed that these demonstrations represent an important step in reinforcing civil awareness and demanding the community's right to self-determination freely and safely, amid growing popular support from various segments of Sweida society.
