Mass demonstration in Kobani demands release of detainees

Today, families of detainees and residents of Kobani organized a mass march inside the city under the slogan: “We want our martyrs, our detainees, and our missing.”

The march set off from Free Women’s Square in Kobani toward Peace Square. During the March, participants carried photos of detainees and chanted slogans such as: “We want our children,” “We want our detainees,” and “We stand with our detainees in spirit and blood.”

The march continued until it reached Peace Square, where it turned into a sit-in protest. This was followed by a minute of silence, after which Kani Ahmed, a member of the military leadership in Kobani, delivered a speech. He stated that one of the provisions of the agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the interim government in Damascus includes the release of all detainees and their return to their families, calling on the interim government to respond swiftly to the demands of their relatives.

Ahmed stressed the need to release all detainees as soon as possible and ensure their return to their families, affirming the continued pursuit of this issue.

The march concluded with chants of: “We want our detainees.”
